Monitoring of prices for main food products according to “Kazagromarketing” JSC for the period from September 30 to October 7 of 2014 by regions:
In the considered period in all regions of the country the process for grocery, dairy and meat products has not undergone significant (more than 10%) changes.
In Shymkent pears became expensive by 11% due to decrease of supply of cheaper products of domestic producers in sale (termination of maturation season and resources decrease).
Predominance in the sale of more expensive varieties of table grapes and an increase of wholesale prices by suppliers by 40% from 250 to 350 tenge/kg resulted in higher prices for the products in Astana by 10% up to 580 tenge/kg.
Tomatoes have risen in Aktobe by 22% from 180 to 220 tenge/kg, in Ust-Kamenogorsk by 11% from 228 to 253 tenge/kg, in Pavlodar by 11% from 190 to 210 tenge/kg due to the decrease in supply of cheaper ground products of domestic producers and replacement for more expensive greenhouse products.
In connection with the completion of the season supply of ground cucumbers on the market is reduced. This week cucumbers grew in Taraz by 44% (from 120 to 173 tenge/kg), in Atyrau by 27% (from 180 to 228 tenge/kg), in Uralsk by 14% (from 140 to 160 tenge/kg), in Aktobe by 12% (from 241 to 270 tenge/kg).
Potatoes for the week rose in Aktobe and Taraz by 10% to 76 and 70 tenge/kg respectively due to the increase in wholesale prices by product suppliers.
Reduction in the supply of cabbage led to rising of its prices in Taraz and Kostanay by 10% from 50 to 55 tenge/kg.
Rise of prices for onions in Aktobe is related to reduction in the supply of products to the market and increase in wholesale prices, as cost of a kilogram of products at retail increased by 13% from 76 to 86 tenge/kg.
Carrot fell in Petropavlovsk by 19% (from 100 to 80 tenge/kg), which is due to saturation of the market by cheaper products of local producers.
Also, saturation of the market with cheaper products of local producers has led to decrease in the price for beet in Petropavlovsk by 19% from 105 to 85 tenge/kg, respectively. Because of the reduction in the supply (establishment of harvest for winter) and increase in wholesale prices in Astana products rose by 36% up to 105 tenge/kg, in Almaty by 22% up to 151 tenge/kg, in Ust-Kamenogorsk by 22% to 89 tenge/kg and in Pavlodar by 11% to 60 tenge/kg.
In Karaganda decrease in prices is marked for pepper by 10% from 205 to 185 tenge/kg due to the saturation of the market with product. Reduction in supply and increase in wholesale prices have led to higher prices for pepper in Kokshetau by 23% to 157 tenge/kg, in Taraz by 14% to 80 tenge/kg, in Pavlodar by 13% up to 135 tenge/kg, in Astana by 11% up to 175 tenge/kg, and in Atyrau by 10% up to 170 tenge/kg.
Also an increase in the price for eggplant was marked this week in connection with the reduction in the supply of products: in Taraz by 38% up to 110 tenge/kg, in Aktobe by 31% up to 210 tenge/kg, in Pavlodar by 16% to 185 tenge/kg, in Ust-Kamenogorsk by 11% up to 283 tenge/kg, in Atyrau by 10% to 170 tenge/kg and in Almaty by 10% to 198 tenge/kg.
We note that price monitoring is carried out by the company since 2003. Since 2008 – on the basis of the “Guidelines for monitoring of prices of basic food products and fuel in regional centers and Astana and Almaty cities”, approved by joint order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This guidelines were agreed with the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Statistics.
